Servers Alive build 543
Servers Alive is a feature rich network monitor at a low price. It can monitor any WinSock service (TCP : FTP, HTTP, POP3, SMTP, IMAP4, DNS,... and UDP : Quake and Radius), ping a host/machine,check if an NT Service is running (check can only be done from an NT machine) (which can be restart by Servers Alive), monitor the available disk space on a remote machine ,check for the correct content of a webpage (eventualy via a proxy server) or check if a database of SQL server (or Oracle)is still running. And if you still have some Netware servers around, no problem, Servers Alive can check them too. When any of these is down, it can warn you with a SOUND (WAV file), a visual indication (change of the title bar, and a RED DOWN indication) or send you an email (SMTP or any other mail type using a commandline sendmail utility) saying who is down. I can also send you an allert via pager (both numeric and alpha numeric). Also the program can be interogated using a TELNET client or/and a webbrowser (like Netscape's Navigator or Microsoft's Internet Explorer). Therefore you can use the build-in HTTP server or just publish it to your favourite HTTP server (save HTML file). The HTML file is color coded, this means that the DOWN hosts are seen in red. Servers Alive can log into a syslog daemon too... The application can 'sit' in the system-tray too (if a host is down the system-tray icon changes to a STOP). The program can monitor upto 10 hosts (freeware version) or upto 1000 hosts (for the full version - registration fee $69). The program runs on Win95 and NT 4.0 The current release version can be downloaded from http://www.woodstone.nu/salive You want to evaluate it, go ahead and download it. TrayPing 1.0

Its purpose is to periodically "ping" a remote host and provide a simple and unobtrusive way to report to you that the host is up or down.
